Fine Art Photography
Lara is a fine art nature photographer based out of West Palm Beach, FL.
Lara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Central Florida in 2002 and a Master of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.
She credits purchasing a camera in 2017 as a major life-altering decision that introduced her to the world of fine art nature photography. “Not long ago, I purchased my first camera which ultimately began this photographic journey. In fact, it was about two years ago when I realized that I was craving meaningful connections with the world around me. As the world’s reliance on technology continued to increase, I found myself yearning for more nature, more animals and more life. Ironically, however, I would need to use the technology of a camera and lens to find the very life I was looking for. And I am so glad that I did.”
In a short period of time, Lara’s photographs earned several awards and distinctions and can be found on the walls of galleries and museums throughout the East Coast of the United States as well as the West Coast of Florida. She has also published three photography and poetry books with more on the way and she uses her Instagram account as a way to connect with others.
Lara has also submitted a group of photographs to Art Licensing International. These images are then licensed out to various art reproduction companies and sold to consumers all over the world. These are mass reproductions for the purpose of commercial interests and not artist original prints.
Signed, limited edition, artist original prints are only available through Lara or the galleries she works with.
When she is not teaching or photographing nature, she loves to spend time with her husband and two children.
The Poetry Picturebook Series
The Poetry Picturebook Series is an ongoing series of photography and poetry books inspired by Lara's love of nature and the written word. The very first book On Nature and Humanity explored connections between the natural world and the larger narrative of human behavior.
On Insects and Flowers (With a Blue Bird Named Bob!) was created for the littlest of readers in the hopes that they too would fall in love with the wonderful world of nature. Children and their parents are invited to follow Bob the Blue Bird around a colorful garden filled with important insects and brightly colored flowers. Each page includes a photograph, easy-to-read poetry, and a fun fact about the subject matter.
